Pay transparency reaches search

Publishing a salary range used to be unusual at board level. It is quickly becoming expected.

A quiet London street of Georgian terraced houses at dawn

For years executive search worked on the assumption that pay would be discussed late and privately. That assumption is changing, driven by regulation in Europe and by candidates who simply ask earlier.

We now publish a salary range on every role we advertise, including interim day rates. Clients were cautious at first. Most now find that it saves time on both sides.

What changes for clients

A published range forces an honest conversation about the market before the search begins, not after the preferred candidate has been found. That conversation is easier to have in week one than in week twelve.
